LEELEE
Hi all, As some of you already know i picked up my riptide 65lb 24v the other day. Now i'm unsure of which battery's to go for. I want gell cells as they are smaller and compact and have a better usage life as i will need 2 for the 24v setup. However getting a charger for them can work out expensive. So any thoughts and help on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Lee
heckendorfmortgage
I have a couple of 12v gel cel batteries that came out of an UPS. You could sequence them to make 24v. Because they are 12v you can charge them with a car charger. I bought them to run a bilge pump when pumping out my swimming pool. They dont owe me much, PM me if you are interested. Bill S
Lee Hang onto your chair for a sec . I bought a pair of Sonnenschein 115 amp/hour at $800 roughly . I calculated the batteries will last a minimum of 7.5 years provided I charge them properly. Thats $800 divided by 7.5 years = $106.66 per year or $2.05 per week. That's pretty cheap for a top shelf, gel-cell . Whats that old saying about expensive being cheaper? As for size, true gel-cells in comparison tend to be larger than their equivalent counterparts due to heavier duty internal grids.
