village_idiot1991 Posted December 18, 2006 Share Posted December 18, 2006 new to the site, joined up coz i love fishin when im not at school but i cant go prawning . well now im on holidays the parents have been informed that this is about to change. then i realised that im not sure when the prawns will be running . i wanted to go tommorrow night in merimbula, nsw. any help would be good! bluefin Posted December 18, 2006 Share Posted December 18, 2006 You need a runout tide and no Moon. Tuesday the 19 th has a high at 7 30 pm and on moon so you should be good. Guest DV8 Posted December 18, 2006 Share Posted December 18, 2006 Prawns run when the tidal range is least. This occurs around the dark phase of the moon. In those cosed waterways you will still get them despite no tidal run. I have even got good catches close to the full mooon though this would be the exception rather than the rule.
