Surfers Paradise

Hi All,

I'm heading off to Surfers Paradise on friday for a couple of days with the family. We'll be staying right on the edge of the canal and pretty close to surfers paradise beach.

I'm considering what my options in terms of a quick fish early morning before the rest of the family gets up are. I'm been to the gold coast before but don't know anything about what would be available in terms of land based fishing.

My questions are:

1. Can I fish the canal? or beach?

2. What could I expect to catch?

3. What gear should I take?

4. Can you eat fish from the canals?

I will be maily bait fishing.
