Piss'n'Broke
Hey All Submitting this report for Greg! After not catching any squid an consequently NO KINGYS , for the last 4 trips Greg was determined to get some. He launched at 2am this morning, an had 6 squid within the 1st hr then nutting,,,, ah well......From there he proceeded to the yellow wave marker (6AM) where he noticed some fish on the top. Dropped anchor an 2 baits. This was his first bad move,,,, Whilst setting the 2nd rig, the 1st rig took a blinding run, an over-spooled, ie birds nest. Mind you drag was set at tick over 6kgs. Was just as well this fish did him on the marker, or this combo might be sitting on the bottom of sydney harbour. All up he lost all of these squid by 9am to kingys, an not one single one was landed. He got smoked twice, an pulled the hooks on 3/4 others. Gotta upsize our owner 6-0's. But he enjoyed it. Betta to have fun an lose bait an tackle, than ssit there an look at your watch Regards Dan

Mondo Rock
Hey - almost hooking that many big Kings is an excellent result in many respects. It proves that Greg is using the right bait, and the right rigs in the right spots - in other words he's figured out the kingy equation. That the kings aren't sticking to the hooks (or are smoking him) can, in large part, be put down to bad luck I reckon. He'll almost certainly land one the next time he's out - and when he does perhaps he can teach me!!!! Great work Greg

ophet
Bad luck guys, you are making progress. At least you are now getting the squid and hooking the kings, next step is landing them. Tyrnos and TLDs should be all you need. Just make sure your line is strong enough, and it sounds like you need to up the drag a little. That should test your line, knots, leaders and trace. If all this is not in place, the Kings are going to find the weakest link. Good luck !!
