Have You Ever Sold Your Boat On Ebay?

No reserve may be an little risky. Remember you are bound to sell the boat to the highest bidder no matter how low the bid.

As an alternative you can auction it with a low starting bid but a hidden reserve at a level you consider the minimum acceptable.

EG Starting Bid $5,000, but the boat will not be on the market until the bidding reaches your hidden reserve of say $6,500. The bidding , once started and with a bit of momentum, may well then continue on way past your reserve. This system helps to get some buyers to show interest.

You can also add a "buy it now" price at the top end of your asking range. It will allow you to sell at top price if someone just can't wait until the end of auction. If they are desperate they will pay!

One other tip! Ignore the ebay email urging you to "drop your reserve" a few days before the auction ends. Just stick to your guns, the real bidding won't start until the last day or so. Put as many pictures and details in the ad when you first post as you can. It as it can be very difficult to add further details later!
