wildfish
can someone please explain how wave period effects us out boating?
Robbielites
Wildfish. Wave period is the time that elapses between the crest of two waves. For example, If I were to head East out of Sydney Harbour with an easterly swell of 2m that had a time period of 20s it would be a fairly comfotable ride because the waves would be high but far apart. If that same 2m swell dropped down to a 2s time period I would regret buying breakfast Hope that makes sense Cheers. Robbie.

gretsch
Thanks Lads.. Those sites are fantastic. Any comment on their accuracy? I don't know about you, but we seem to catch more when the wind is down. There is the odd exception to the rule but usually, windy conditions (uncomfortably so) are not good producers for us. Interesting to know about the wave period. Cheers Ceph
netic
Seabreeze is probably the most accurate i have seen....its right about 70% of the time and if it is wrong it isnt wrong by much
gretsch
What about Windfinder? That is an awesome site. Has all the info in an easy to read chart. Anyone tested its accuracy?
