locodave
Hey guys, this is gonna sound like a really dumb question, but how does the hour meter work on a boat? I have for exmple 5 zeros I think. 00000 Mine currently reads: 00219 (the number 9 is highlighted in white). I doubt I have 219 hours and I doubt I have 21 hours! So I'm confused. Its those Mercury gauges one. Thanks
Penguin
Take ur boat out for an hr and see what ur meter says after, but I will say u probably have 219 hours. How old is the boat? penguin
sc0pe
another thing u may need to consider, is that while there is power to that guage, regardless of the motor running or not, the hour will tick over. so if u go and anchor up for 10 hours, but it only took u 10 mins to get there, it will show 10 hours and 10 mins... locodave
its a 2004 engine with gauges. Damn, so I probably clocked all these hours while just sitting there That makes the boat engine sound old!
johnno
Hi Dave Don,t worry you only have 21.9 hrs on the motor i just went out and had a look at mine for you The white dial is 1/10th of a hr it probably has a blue strip on top and below other wise i would have 1549hrs on mine. ( i don,t think so) i think they do this so you can tell your hr meter is working. Your hour metrer should only be working whilst your motor is running. so for guys who downrig/troll heaps they clock more hrs for guys who drive there and anchor you don,t clock up as many hours. Penguin
I just checked mine and its got the blue line and 1/10 written above it. 171hrs and a white 5, so 171hrs and 30mins for me.Boat is a 2004 model. penguin

johnno
Don,t know how to fix it you may have to get another and put power on it and run up hrs to where you want.
