Downrigger Help?

hi raiders ,

i just recently got a downrigger , need a little help , ive read on here that you can downrigg squid strips, but i cant seem to rig the strips up so that they dont spin any help would be much appreciated

hey mate,

Only advice i can give is when fishing strips on DR make sure the stip is simetrical and you pin it with towing hook dead center!

And maybe only use single hook when towing strips!

I am no expert at this but a few things ive experimented with! What i do is lower it down a couple of feet and check the bait out b4 lowering right down!!!

yeah im out 2morrow , i have tried all wat u said but i must be doing it wrong somewhere and i check it besided the boat before i drop it down got me stuffed. the only thing i can think of is the piece of bait might not be cut right or the hook in wrong spot. ill take a pic tomorrow and post it , hopefully see what i am doing wrong.

what hooks u using?? straight or offset shanks? offset will definatly make it spin!

i uses gammie live bait hooks , there not offset so still got me f*#*ed , any way ill post pic see if any one can help me

i have never down rigged but when im fishing strips in fast currents i make the strips very narrow only a couple of cm wide, or i do a strip and then cut "tenticles" at the bottom beneath the hook
