mate thats a surgeon fish

we got some on sat morning in MH on believe it or not 3 inch plastics

gday all, need some help with a fish ID . My brother caught it while fishing in sydney harbour off land

gday all, due to the great weather weve had for the last 2 weeks i decided to go for a fish in the rain on anzac day, i thought ill just go for a flick with some plastics up in cowan creek. morning was good no rain .....this is good i thought , anyway on the fishing front was not the best , a lot of undersize fish but it was good just being out on the water. then come about 8.30 a got a nice hit , gees boys this one feels alright as it came up ive seen colour its a nice tailor and the F#CK me who follows the tailor up a school of about 10 kings the biggest ones going easy 1 metre, my brother in the boat starting throwing everything we had at them but they didnt stay around for very long so bad luck on the kings but at least we saw em not much else for the rest of the day alot more undersize stuff anyway the tailor went 56cms not bad on my 2-4kg plastics outfit with 8 pound braid and 8 pound mono leader , lucky i hooked him in the corner of the mouth so he couldnt chew my leader up.

i was out on sat , fished MH heaps of good sized squid around fishing crap only managed amberjack

went out yesterday with a kingy virgin on board so the pressure was really on. spent a few hours getting squid and what do you know the $5 jigs caught all the squid then we set out to find the kings. We searched north head for no luck then tried all the markers , floating live squid under them again no luck, now im thinking this is not good as we had planned a bbq when we got back...well at least we had some nice squid . any way no luck in harbour so went up to MH threw out a live squid , fresh strips and some frozen strips from last trip it took a good hour or so when finally the rod goes off zzzzzzzzzzzzz and i grab the rod and give it to me mate any way nice little fight and a 70cm speciem comes on board.....beauty no meat on the bbq tonight! and guess what bait we got the king on not thre live or fresh squid bu the frozen squid.....go figure all squid on cheap jigs and kingy on old squid? mate was stoked 1 less kingy virgin check out the ink on the boat

hi all, i would like to get into bass fishing, i live at rydalmere , is there anywhere close by like say upper parra river or lane cove river where i could go for a flick and ill need a few tips on gettn started as i have never fished freshwater before any help would be good cheers Craig

was out sunday , very slow as well, managed 1 undersise king 50cm on DR yakka,way to many boats out, the only way i combat this is to try and find new spots were there is no one else fishing and if you can get a few kings all to yourself its great ..................until next week when there are 50 boats in your new spot...lol cheers Craig

hi all fished sydney harbour today managed my first king on downrigger which went 70cm . also got smoked by something and i use 50lb line with 80lb trace when fishing for kings and this thing nailed me .....spewn !!! anyway good to get out again, back to work monday good to get the monkey of the back, thanks to all the guys for all the tips

gday all, headed out to a bueat morning , a little over cast which i always like, seeing the kings have been hard to get lately i decided to go for a troll with some skirts 1st run inside north head...BANG were on ....pulls in a nice taylor to 45cm.....i thought not a bad start. Around noth head and BANG were on again this time a king to 50cm.....spewn not bigger any way back she goes. a few more trolls along and were on again this time a nice samson to nearly 50cm. this was going ok so off we go again lines back out , no more action for a while so we decided to come back in , on the way in the rod buckles again and its another king this time 45cm..............WERE ARE THE BIGGER ONES!!!! spewn anyway back inside to get squid and lives off we go on the downrigger for a big fat ZILCHwe rigged almost every marker, reef , drop offf and wreck that i knew , even around yachts and places i havent been before. 1 of our squids got smashed by soemthing it had big chunks out of i every were i rekon it was a school of slimys all in all two nice fish for the table and some salt and pepper squid entre's nice day out shame about some bigger kings , again alot of people on the water had no luck , 1 guy said he got a king to 65cm but everyone else was spewn. was good to be out and met a few raiders along the way cheers Craig

i was out there yesterday as well for ZILCH everyone i spoke to on the water yesterday said same thing ......... no kings
