Ross Hunter
Raiders, I'm going up to the chemists to get some sea sick pills I reckon I might need them next time I go to sea. It has now been three weeks since BROADBILL and BILLFISHER have hit the high seas. This is without doubt the longest period away from Mother ocean in our 25 years of charter fishing. We now have a "storm forced warning' in place for this afternoon and tomorrow. This is the same warning that devastated the Sydney Hobart yachts, half a decade ago. A storm forced warning is for winds of 50 plus knots and dangerous sea states, it is just under a cyclone state. So do not contemplate boating, batten the hatches instead. I have experienced winds to 100 knots and beat my way through some frightening storms. Most of these last an hour or so and whilst frightening don't last long. These winds do as they are whipped up by intense low pressures and can blow for days creating the most dangerous seas encountered. I do believe that when we do eventually get out we will catch heaps of tuna.

I cannot see offshore being a viable option for another two weeks.... I feel like I'm living in a freezer. I once wrote a song in the winter called "The Seasons" its featured on my Bluewater Country album. It seemed to make feel better in the winter to play it. It's about the different seasons us fishos experience Summer, Autumn,Winter and Spring THE SEASONS Somehow the summer verses I assocaitte with better. I love the ocean in Summer Nor Easters late storms.... sounds of thunder balmy days cooled by sea breezes Sunscreens,t shirts ,cold beers in the freezer Then the winter verse Now it's winter those westerly gales Freezin days white horses 'n migrating whales Fishin' tuna in pourin' rain so cold and wet Clearin' weather, travellin' home to a winter sunset Ah! bring back the summer
