Hundgie
Gday mate, Im no beach fishing expert but still i have done my share and i think a 9ft stiff beach rod would not be ideal for chucking lures in the surf. I think you need something with a lighter action to assist in flicking the lure out as far as possible, thats just my opinion and who knows all the fish may be right at your feet but it is not always like that. GOOD LUCK AND HAPPY FISHING.

TheDiko
What type of lures were you thinking? The stiffer the rod tip the better for lures, as long as it isn't thick like a big heavy jig rod. Depending on what lures you are using as to what rod you need. For 20 - 40g metals you will want a big 12ft rod, for plastics with 4 - 9g jig heads you will want something lighter so you can get a very fast whippy action out of the cast.
