More Q? On Electric Motors

As a number of us seem to be looking at electrics lately can anyone point out the differences between Minn Kota and the Jarvis Walker.

Also are there other brands out there that we should be looking at?

Have heard good things about the water snake series, work well and dont hurt the pocket too badly.

I have a motorguide electric on my boat, only used it once but it was easy to use and works well. It has a wireless foot pedel , no wires getting in the way, if your super lazy i think you can get a keyring control

I thought i would add my 2 cents worths, seing as how i own a watersnake.

I have it on my 4.5m brooker side console.

got one of the first one released in Sydney & so far has been faultless.

the do lack a few of the refinements of the minn kotas, such as auto pilot feature, but for nearly

half the price , im not complaining.

they are also a little bit noisier on the steering servo, but are very quiet on the thrust motor.

I would thoroughly recommend them to a new user or someone on a tighter budget.

I am more than happy with mine.

I also puchased a minn kota quick release bracket & anderson plugs from bias boating which fits the Watersnake perfectly,

and makes removal a piece of cake.

I fish on a boat fitted with a mini kota. The auto pilot is amazing although it gets confused on occasions and requires to be reset. this is not an issue. in saying that yes they are expensive.

Minn Kota have released non auto pilot version to bridge the price gap a bit and plus the warranty is longer, it's a tough choice really.

I own a Watersnake myself, one of the first run and it's had some minor issues which I fixed myself but it was half the price of the Riptide when I brought it, feedback was asked for on another forum and hopefully all the bugs are now ironed out.

Just got the 44lb watersnake for $400.

obviously the auto pilot feature is a big plus on the Minn Kota but at that price I couldnt pass the Jarvis Walker up.

I'm looking into a motor for my Hornet (4m).

Who's best to speak to about the new Watersnakes? (dealers I mean). Do they help with installation as well?
