Ali Posted August 28, 2007 Share Posted August 28, 2007 first time post here, ive been reading everyones reports for over 12 months and have finally decided to put up a report of my own. decided to give myself an early mark from work yesterday due to the glorious weather and have a crack at some squid. managed to get my jigs into the water by 5.00pm with the sun starting to set. nothing for the first hour, however i did notice the tide alot higher than im used to seeing in that area. Around 6 things started to heat up, i picked up the first of my 4 squid for the evening, an arrow with a body length of apprx 40cm, you beauty, less than 5 mins after the first squid struck i get my second, another on the 40cm mark. Within the next 1/2 hour picked up another 2 smaller sized models. Decided to call it a night around 7.30, giving me enough time to watch the second half of an historical moment......the dragons actually winning a game of league. Anyways, thinking of giving myself another early mark today to see if i can convert those squid into a jewie (an art im yet to master despite many, many, many months of trying). Any tips here would be greatly appreciated. PS..havent figured out the whole picture thing yet but im sure by the next report i will have it figured out. I knocked off early for a fish yesterday for exactly the same reasons as you - yesterday afternoon was too good to be stuck inside!!! Jewgaffer has posted some excellent jew fishing tips elsewhere in the Fishing Chat section. I reckon tonight will be an awesome night again - unfortunately I have to pay for yesterday so I will be stuck working until after 6!!! i was landbased, fishing within botany bay, no luck though. i did manage a salmon which was donated to a fellow fisherman who kept me company. speaking to a few fisho's last night i was advised october/november is when the action really heats up.. thats just too long to wait.
