Kingfish Frustrations

KingsRule

Recommended Posts

Been a few reports of kings around the harbour recently , so i thought i'd give it a shot this morning.

Went down to clifton about 5 , took me about 2 hours for 3 cuttles....not great but better than nothing. Burlyed up and i see about 10 big grey trevs and a slender looking kingy with bright yellow tail

They were scoffing the burly but wouldnt have a bar of my baits!

Now i was using 6lb fireline and 10lb trace so not heavy gear...

The king would come up and almost sniff the bait before slipping back into the pylons :mad3:

i resorted to small bread pieces on size 10 blackfish hooks , they deffinatley showed more interest and

I managed to hook the biggest trev of the school probly 45~50cm but that didnt last long :1badmood:

The school spooked , not to be seen again

pretty much gave it in after that, back home by 9.

I had a similar problem this morning.

Thousands of kings under my kayak but the wouldnt touch squid, pillies, gar or lures.

Drove me crazy.

At times the screen on the sounder was almost totally black.

Dropped a decent Red too. :1badmood:

Looks like it will be spaghetti for dinner.

Cheers
