Weekend In The Mountains

Hi All

Spent the weekend camping and chasing Trout with a mate up near Oberon. The weather was cool and overcast for most of the weekend, with the occasional shower. The fishing was tough at times, by lunch time on Saturday we only managed one fish, a rainbow for John.

We decided to move camp and try another river. Finally after lunch I landed a small brown. I had a few new lures on this trip, mainly the popular Bream lures in Trout colours, they all seemed to be effective.

The fishing picked up Saturday afternoon, and we both managed to land a few fish. I picked up this nice brown in a long shallow pool, he smashed the lure just after it hit the water.

This Rainbow liked the look of the Rigge Zipbait

The weather had improved Sunday morning and so did the fishing. We both caught a few more fish.

The weekend started slowly, but as the weather improved so did the fishing.

It's never to cold to go camping, it wasn't frosty just a little wet, the cloud cover kept the temperature down.

Great effort guys.

Beatiful pics of both fish and background location.

Is that on private property or crown land?

Do you need a specific licence to fish there, or just permission?

Did any go in the frying pan, if so how do you normally cook trout?

Cheers

Usually I gain access through crown land or were the road crosses the river. I haven't asked for permission before even though your mostly fishing on private land. You need a current nsw fishing license.

John Kept a couple of fish for the table, not sure how he cook's them. I'm not much of a fish eater and released all of mine. There might be a few raiders out there that could help you with recipes.

covanova I can't count the number of times I've been up there and come home without landing a fish. Just keep trying and you will eventually get results.

Cheers,

Dean
