secki
HI all was wondering how you all use your fishfinders? Do you use the Raw data feature ( shows the boomerangs) or do you use the fish id options (showing little fishy shapes)
Evets
Secki, Turn the fish symbols off and use the boomerangs. The fish symbols tend to show up anything in the water as a fish (eg weed). The boomerangs show up heaps more information IMHO. Grab a copy of Rick Hucksteps sounder book. It will help you to understand your sounder and what it is showing you Evets
ORES
Good advise Evets, I got the video and its very good. Put it this way. With raw sonar, Depending on the quality, you can see the path of your lure being jiged(providing you are jigging under the sonar beam). With fish id you will most likely see a school of fish simbols. Learn how to read raw mate you will see a whole other world down there.
sportfish
I agree with both comments so far. the huckstep book or video makes it all easier to understand. turning it into fish in the boat is another story I would turn off the fish symbols
secki
Thanks for the advice, yeah ive never really used my old finder as a finder, more so as a depth finder, but this finder is heaps better than my last crappy one as stated it lets yoru turn the ID s off and have raw data, its a hummingbird 150sx, nothign special but better than my ebay one lol
