  1. Thanks, was not asking for spare. It is visible, but displays 0 lt/h when on idle, only when starting and once in 5 minutes or so spikes above 0

  3. Does anybody have one? I'm trying to use one and seem to be having problems (its connected to HDS8). Any help will be appreciated. Thanks
  4. Hi all, Turned my sounder on today in the garage and noticed that the structure scan transducer produces some sort of ticking sound roughly 1-1.5 times per second... and looks like the stricture scan image on the sounder is getting scrolled in sync. Moreover once in about 3 second the ticking rate increases for a very short while - so does the scrolling speed. Did not notice that on the water but perhaps I was not paying attention. Is that normal? Thanks
  5. There is no more carpet on my next boat, that for sure, made sure that is the case. Any investment in speeding up after-the-trip procedure is money well spent. I use saltaway tp break these layers of salt and this also allows to flush motoer faster. Got my hose on the reel - also saves time. Will try pressure cleaner soon - should be great with saltaway mix.
  6. Thanks a lot guys, A lot of useful info. Will check on some of the leads provided... What do you think about Seafarer Vaquish 5.25? Is it ok for the "close offshore"? Long reef max? Is 90lt tank is a worry? Thanks
  7. I love my electric! In addtion to "sneakiness" it adds some safety. If something goes wrong 80lb leccy is much better than oars... which I do not have to carry onobard anymore!
  8. Thanks guys, The budget is that I'll pay a right proice for a right rig. There was a dealer near me who was selling trailcrafts... which they stopped and then I learned they are in trouble. Glass is OK, thanks a lot for the tip.
  9. Hi all, If I'm to buy a 4.9-5m centre console boat designed for fishing - would are my options? Aluminum or fiberglass - looking for the max. toughness and sea abilities for the size. I was looking at Tabs, Trailcraft - but it looks like these are no longer avaliable... Thanks
  10. Wow, looks like a professional forecast, thank you thank you! Went exactly as predicted; had a lot of good squid but lost MY fish Back to the drawing board...
  11. Hi all, How would tomorrow (Botany Bay) look like from the weather point of view? Any chances of getting something with all these thunderstorms, scorching temperatures, pressure jumping? Thanks
  12. Went there yesterday to have a look... couldn't find the facility to flush engine - e.g. 2 10 minute bays are there but no taps.
  13. Hi Huey, Thanks for the info, I'm also interested in HDS5/7; didn't know that the "structure scan" won't be avaliable with HDS5; Lowrance did not mention this to me. Could you please confirm my understanding of you post that HDS7 will not work with 83/200 kHz transducer? That would be a pty. What I like about Lowrance structure scan in that it seems to be working directly under the boat as well... and this is an add-on I can get later... Thanks
  14. Hi all, Going to fish for the 1st time after more than a year and a half off the water. Will propably go (if the weather is OK) Sat afternoon - Botany or maybe Prt Hacking (boat). Would appreciate some help in terms of what should I target at this time of a year, and what would be the plan. Would prefer not go go very far off for the 1st trip after a long break. Thanks
  15. Thanks a lot. Yes, the intent is to use it form the boat (don't fish landabsed anyway - never tried). It looks like live baiting/trolling is what I need and a spin real (like the baitrunner) is a good choice (never used/heard of Rovex, so need to research). It looks like it is designed foir a threadline based on my reading of you info; though guides size/position looks like it is somehow in between my "classic style" spin rods and baitcasting rods, e.g. the 1st guide is smaller than on the spin rod, but bogger than on the baicast rod. Thanks
  16. Hi all, I have "inherited" 2 Silstar Crystal Blue Power Tip Rods (6-10kg, 6'6" each) from a friend. As new, but no reels. I'd appreciate an advise - what is the best use for them for a Sydney-based person, and what reels do I out on them (in a reasonable $$$ range)... I can't even tell if they are designed for a theradline or overhead? Thanks
  17. Hi all, Because of my working commitments I have very limited time to fish these days (missed the whole summer ). Hope there is still some kingfish in Botany left for me. And my fishing sessions are not very long (couple of hours at max) so I have no time to catch live bait. So I would appreciate some help with buying bait: 1) I used to buy pilchards in the bait bar (not frozen, where they just wrap it in an old newspaper for me)... heard there is a "jucier" version of pilchards sold in a vacuum packets. Which piclchards are better and where do I buy those sealed ones (I live in Syd South / Sutherland area) 2) Squid: once again I can buy "unforzen" - usually pinky ones - in the bait shop, or local tackle store has frozen squid (white ones). Which one is better? 3) Is there any value in dead garfish sold? Many thanks
  18. I think it is more about your sounder - e.g sensitivity, depth of the bomb and speed of the boat (e.g. if the bomb is dragged by the water outside of your sounder cone). What I would do is to drop the bomb when the boat is stationary and play with the sounder/depth till you see it. Then start moving forward. HTH
  19. Hi all, I wonder if it is possible to catch kingfish "out of the bay". Say, when I read about kingfish caught in Botany Bay it is typically at Moulinex Point, Warf, or other place inside the bay. But what about heads near the entrance to the bay? I mean, when I go out - if I turn left or right - I see good looking rocks that seem to resemble a good structure - does anybody fish for kingies there? If yes, what are the techniqes? Thanks
  20. Confirmed, I have only 2 meters Off to whitworths (sp?) Will try 3-4 meters w/out any "extras": if too heavy will think about that "anchor Buddy" Thanks guys.
  21. Thanks Stewy, The chain feels heavy enough, but I believe (about to go to the boat and measure) I have less than 3-4m. I have that plough-like anchor and I do let a lot of rope out; I just feel I have to let out too much rope to get a grip... whis is somtimes a problem in tight spaces. If my suspicions are correct I'll buy a 3.5 m chain as you suggest.
  22. Hi all, I got that feeling that the chain on my anchor may be too short (so that may be the reason for anchoring to be less reliable than I would want). What would you say is the right length for a 4.6 bowrider in a typical depth is nor more than 30m? Thanks
  23. Hi all, I have juset seen the photo of a guy with the big beast caught somwhere in Sydney. Perhaps somebody here knows hoew/where to catch it? I don't even know if is is freshwater or saltwater thing? Thanks
  24. Thanks guys. I forgot to mention - fishing from the boat. Is there any sense in doing that - vs. conventional livebaiting?
