Old Epirb Battery Disposal?

Now I have upgraded to the new EPIRB, what is the most environmentally friendly way to dispose of my old unit?

At no cost your old EPIRB can be deposited into a recycle bin at you local Battery World store, in Sydney they are at Artarmon, Caringbah, Castle Hill, Girraween, Moorebank, Ryde, and Tempe or call

If you go to the amsa site it has the details on how to unscrew and disable your old epirb ( all brands) before handing it in complete at battery world for disposal. This will stop any chance of piossible false alarms. Complete units are recycled with boards and cases pulled apart not only the battery.

No luck on the AMSA webiste for epirb disassembly, only this:
