  1. Bout time sammy lol, its a buz hey! good release to m8. You never forget your first!
  2. Have just come across this from a m8, the most unbelievable interaction you will ever see between a dog and a killer whale! http://www.bragnrelease.com/forum/member_v...ideoID~1236.htm
  3. As MCHALE has said, Everyones focus has to be directed at the Govt not the poor bloke trying to make a living he to has a mortgage and kids to feed.
  4. Mr J Gaffer lol, mmmm interesting. Variables in fishing. This is why we are called fisherman and not catcherman. Are you just looking at corresponding pressures and relationships? or are you trying to put the whole perspective into one reasonable forecast for a good days fishing? The Whole Perspective being and i may miss a few 1 Type Of Species 2 Availability of Species 3 Weather eg cloudy, rainy, sunny, storm, impending storm ( pressure changes as you wish to discuss) 4 Tides, High or Low, before tide or top of tide or after tide, neaps or springs etc 5 Current, direction of or fish in an eddy, what side of current line do i fish. 6 Moon Phase 7 Sun Angle 8 Water Temp at various depths 9 Type of bed or structure you wish to fish etc etc lol. Yes i believe the barometer has a place to fit in there as fish do go off or come on depending on whats happening. Pressure regulates the wind ocean currents etc so i dont see why it wouldnt knock fish about. Take for instance your humble jew and its jewels what do you think the jewels are used for? The answer will help you question. Extreme seasonal changes due to our weather patterns at the moment are causing some havoc, where fish should be they arnt, they are on the way but. Why do the tuna run somedays and not the next. Why do pros have a good season then a couple of bad. These are the variables and jewgaffer it will always be a mystery i can tell you what species will be where of sydney and when, but when we go for them and there not there we start to look at all those above and more. Hope that helps lol.
  5. Gday all, just had the opportunity to view some newely released DPI waterproof plastic sizing and distinguishing charts for marlin and tuna. Thanks to our fishing license monies these charts have been provided at $14.00 for the two. To all of you that fish for these species, i believe these charts to provide invaluable info on species ID, Tagging info etc etc and they seem to be the best info available. The two cahrts are not encumberson by size and can easily be kept very handy when needed. Ring the DPI for info! As for me im on the phone tomorrow morning. Both cards are the same size as a tag card and fit into the same bag as a full tag card bag but not as thick.
  6. Seems very quiet at the moment warmer water is about 60km out to sea
  7. Gday all fished outside the heads yesterday around 60m. Water was 20.3 light ene blowing swell around 1.5. Fishing was extremely slow and for once the jackets wernt around as much. The cold current is still on the bottom. How did i know this, a little tip is to feel how cold the sinker is when you wind up shhh... anyway picked up some nice eastern flatties and that was it till around 1200am the fishing picked up with some nice mowies. Seemed bugga all was happening everywhere. Plenty of banter on the radio but no fish.
  8. Well headed wide today, not long out of Botany and the water was a beautiful blue but only around 18c. Wind a light ene, swell about 1mtre. Went to the first fad and had to laugh saw a couple of lures hanging of it. Absolutely NO action bird wise so decided to head ne. Saw two albies and some mutton birds doing laps so decided to investigate, Water went funny as some surface action was boiling raised something but only briefly, tried to find the bait ball but it went off. Looked down Sth to see an awesome front forming so we decided to run in quick, took some great photos of it moving up. Thats it nice day on the water!
  9. Was actually only talking to a pro about this 2 wks ago. Yes they maybe bycatch, obvious if observed being done from a trawler, but as mentioned the value at market makes them not worth the effort. With alot of the commercial buyout they are not trapped anymore so obviously they will plague, but as was mentioned as well once their food source is exhausted they die off probably within the next 2 years lol.
  10. Well finally got the beast back on Monday, 4yrs is nearly finished. Just had the exhaust system done, looks pretty smick
  11. LOL. Firstly or Secondly do yourself a favour and go on a charter, you may learn a few basic things before loosing things. Secondly or Firstly depending on where you live, M8 join a Game Fishing Club. The benefits are endless Thirdly Good Luck
  12. Advice and tips, Before you even go, know what the swell and wind are doing, tides etc, before you even step foot on a platform or ledge research the area and watch it for a while, make sure you are wearing cleats, for christs sake fish with someone..... who else is going to get you out if you fall in or fall off. Tell someone where you are going etc.
  13. wise one, recently a petition was going on other websites to keep it open. I am pretty sure that due to lack of resources ( basically money ) the CSIRO will no longer fund the the sst images etc. So thats why it has virtually stopped. I didnt think they would cut it that quick though. Someone else may have more info?
  14. Yeah, well brushed saturday and headed out today. Wasnt to bad outside today, the southerly had been cancelled earlier on radio, but a large squall was way off the coast to the east and we already new by 630am that we wernt going to get hammered. Anyway had to do a charter so we bottom bashed of the Northern Beaches. Not much surface action alot of travellers around although did see a whole heap of birds working wide off freshie. Also a couple of whales hangin around. Plenty of stripies around the hump. Fished in 50 odd metres of water, swell sse at about 1-1.5m and short between the peaks. Wind wasnt that bad maybe 5-10kn from the sth, current began at .1 and by the end of the day around 130pm current was close to .4 from the NEst. Actually held quite well on the drift considering the confusion in swell. Had a good day, kept the punters happy with pig fish, mowong, flatties, snapper and a few other assorted bits. Nearly all the fish were caught on prawns, the others were caught on soft plastics which we have been fishing hard with lately and with fantastic results and actually caught the new Aust record mowong on soft plastic during the week.
  15. What a great night, things started off well with the fire brigade boys turning up in their fire boat. We all actually thought someone had called them due to the smoke coming off the barbie at the wharf lol. But they said they actually could smell it down harbour. Needless to say they left the wharf with a bag full of sausage rolls and were very gratefull as they looked famished. Glenn also showed the video of The Great White around the boat. Left me gobsmacked! To see something that f@#$56* big hanging around the back of the boat would have been awesome. The footage was clear and the shark, well that was insane. The night started off with a bit of the History behind the Pakula Legend, including a great one regarding The Preident of Indonesia a fanatical Pakula Lure Owner, you think Imelda Marcos Loved her shoes, well Suharto was the Imelda of Pakula Lures. Peter explained that the large colour range, around 85 at one stage was basically for Suharto. Anyway if you still want original and i mean Original Pakula Lures there are literally thousands of his still in indo. Peter then went on to explain various fundamentals in gamefishing , lures , rigging, low frequency, colour spectrums, using the sun etc etc. Learnt some interesting things that i never knew or would never even have thought of. My M8 Sean brang along a game reel that he had. It has Peter Pakula engraved on the side and is an old Everol. Funny thing is, Peter told us it was the first game reel and rod he ever owned. To those of you who missed it, DONT next time you get the chance.
  16. Depending on the weather, we will be fishing sat and sun depending on the weather. May stick close or wouldnt mind going out to heatons actually dont care where we go cause now we can lol. Anyway been at the Pakula talk and its got me psyched plus a few beers with fellow raiders, sooooooooooooooooo im out there!
  17. Bob a bloke your size need that lol? I believe i still owe a swim across wollongong harbour lol.
  18. punchn2 check your facts. Its official.
  19. Well, just an update. We have been busy cleaning and checking everything and still not finished but alot can wait, have covered the main areas, electrics, engine, bilges and pumps safety gear etc etc. Whitworths have been getting alot of our money, but i must say their prices on all things for the boat have been unreal. We have bought, 2 gucci balls, epirb, fire extinguisher, rope, led nav lights, led trailer lights, lifejackets, anchor lift, grease, oil, lube and had to update some charts and got a few other things but of course more to come. The boat has been denamed and deregistered, denaming ceremony has been done. Hopefull Sunday looks the goods so we will be having a naming ceremony and a M8s brother has agreed to do a traditional smoking ceremony for us, which we are going to do at Yarra Bay. New Name.... SMOKIN New Rego..... FININ Another M8 has done the signage for us and it looks awesome.
  20. Apparently the Ultimate Lady scored Australias 1st Grander, a Blue weighing in at 1080lb. Caught on the way back/to Vanuatu. Not sure if it is being put in as a record due to damage of fish? Someone might be able to add more to this. Pretty cool BRING EM ON LOL OK Caught on a lure on 80lb 550NM of the East Coast at Mellish Reef, 700NM from Cairns, 120 NM inside Australian Waters on the way back from Port Villa. Caught 710pm on Monday night fight lasted 1hour and 40 minutes, they were nearly spooled on the bite but then it settled down, they had planned to release it but did not recover from the fight and was officially weighed in at Townsville at 1080lb, Making it Australias first grander blue. A bigger fish was also lost but not by the Ultimate Lady.
  21. Fibros vs The Silvertails. Saw shorts of this a couple of weeks ago. 4 YOU RUGBY LEAGUE NUTS, This is footy at some if not one of its toughest seasons, pretty sure its 1973. Footage of Wests and Manly. Absolute punchups galore. Some of you young blokes might wanna watch this to see how tough they really were compared to now. It is rugby league at its most rawest form. A MUST WATCH.
  22. Flightmanager, M8 that was a major concern with Sydneys Metro area, we were actually worried about bodgey hung optus wires collecting us, but all is not a problem. The low appearence of the wires is an optical illusion. Our Height is 3.4 mtres road to top of tower. Thanks guys cant wait to get it out but have a denaming and renaming ceremony to perform first, and im not allowed to fish out of the boat untill this is done, bad karma to do so.
