Central coast Mariner Posted September 29, 2008 Share Posted September 29, 2008 (edited) Hi all, Im about to put a new engine on my 5.4mtr Pride Gazelle. (previous engine had a drink and threw a piston end, pretty sure it was thru an internal seal, and not the exhaust, but not 100%) Finally decided on a new 135 merc optimax, nearly went the etec, but it came down to price and am getting a good deal on the opti. The previous engine was a long shaft, and I am wondering if it is worth modifying my transom to an XL shaft now, and put on an XL opti? Or do I stick with the transom the way it is and put on a LS Opti? Any thoughts or experiences would be appreciated...
