zen801
Hi all, Did an over nighter with a mate in his new boat in the harbour. Just on sunrise this girl took a whole pillie. Other than that a bit slow on keepers but a good time out on the water. The fish were busting up big time time on the surface and a salmon smashed my live yakka i had out unweighted. It was awesome to watch - one minute nothing then bang - out of the water comes a salmon and my yakka flying through the air. It was a good display of air. Had plenty of follows with some descent size kingies as well. Water a bit green and has cooled off a bit. Cheers

Davemmm
Nice slab of flatty there. But doesnt it annoy you when you spend the night targetting big fish and all you get is a lousy eighty odd cm croc. Dave
zen801
Excellent specimen there Mike. Were you drifting or at anchor when you hooked up. How did you rig the pillie - gangs? Cheers Carl Hi Carl, We were at anchor just settling in for an hour or two sleep when it hit. My rig was a two hook rig for jewies, one hook thru the eyes and the other thru the tail. Flattie hooked itself on the top hook so it took the pillie probably head first. Mike

tide'n'knots
Hi mike, well done! The best flattie I have personally caught was a simalar size in brisbane waters on a pillie also. Obviously the bigger flathead dont mind pillies! One of the methods I use for jew is to take a fillet off one side then bury the hook about half way down the pillie in the gut area and half hich around the tail, leaving the gut exposed, I have caught several decent jew this way over the years - perhaps it would work on the flathead as well if you have a productive flathead ground. once again, nice fish, well done.
