Stripe Marlin

Hi Raiders

Fished the Botany Bay G.F.C point score comp today. Managed to "tagg" the fist marlin for the season for Botany Bay club.

A nice Stripe Marlin of approximately 70kgs, took a Pakula Lumo medium sprocket. fished on the long rigger.

We found some good bait schools in 80 fathoms due east of the port, and that was where we hooked the fish. Water temp was 21.8. Did travel out to 150 fathoms but water temp out there was only 20.1.

As we were only two up,it was pretty chaotic there for awhile, but we managed to keep level heads & just took our time once we had cleared the deck.Great boat driving by skipper Rob did the trick & we were up on the fish within 15 minutes. It was good to see some fish finally turn up.

Two other Botany Bay boats also scored fish, another stripe marlin & a shortbilled spearfish.

Hopefully fishing will only get better from here.

Have a great xmas&new year to everybody on fishraider.

What relief knowing the marlins are about we got the that first for the season back in early october on the Broady seen five since and 4 at the weekend 3swam straight under the two flats then later on a tiny little thing with its little bill poking out had one shot at the left rigger swam over an added another two shots at the right rigger but the hooks on the larger lure's I was running had a bigger gape than the bill it was only small for a marlin might have been a spear fish I think that was the first seen from billfisher so thats 10 wer've seen including the caught one between broady and billfisher thus more than this time last year the serious fishing is upon us fellow fishermen well done on the angling and fish caught at the weekend.Cheers for beers at christmas and a happy new year to us all we will meet again somewhere on the Tasman sea in the new year untill then farewell the Emu.
