Stanfo
Hi all I want to start chasing mangrove jack but am unsure on what leader I should use. Do I use nylon, wire or both and how long does the leader have to be? thanks in advance Lachlan
Jewhunter
I wouldn't use wire for Jacks. I'd use a minimum of 30lb mono. You could even go up to 50lb, depending on where you're fishing. A metre in length would be fine. Even if you're using only 20lb braid I'd still up the leader so if they do bury themselves you're a chance of getting them out. Good luck, Cheers, Grant. Croft
If fishing around mangroves, then make sure you have a really fast retireve.. thats why you need really strong line, you don't want him to run into the mangroves and tangle you up. seacow
Locked up drag settings. If those jacks get some zing you'll soon hear a ping!!
