Caught this guy off Longy yesterday off the kayak.
My guess Warehou or Snotty Trevally. Measured 38cm.
Am sure it's a member of the trevally family (typical serrated scutes at tail wrist) and forked tail. Unlike a silver he had teeth on him and black eyes. Quite slimy too.
When bringing him up he was grey in colour with pronounced black stripes (like a sea-caught Luderick) but later turned almost completely black.
Oven baked it was soft moist flesh and really tasty.
