srushton
Took out the good ship Hakuna Matata to Browns yesterday with my son Tom. We were looking for yellowfin. Although we didn't turn a reel on the way out we managed a great mixed bag on top of the mountain. No yellowfin but plenty for the table. It was pretty windy on the way out but by about 1pm it had dropped to a breeze. I think we counted about 17 boats out there. A great day. Can anyone identify the orange coloured fish? More photos to follow

frankp
Great report and well done on the blue eye, there have been more reports of gemfish than blue eye of late so a really good effort there. Oh and im fairly certain the orange fish is an ocean perch, fantastic tucker. Edited July 16, 2009 by frankp

Can anyone identify the orange coloured fish? More photos to follow Gday Uncle Bo Bo. The first silver fish is a ribbon fish. Not good eating as i caught my first one 2 weeks ago and asked the question is it any good to eat. Apparently worm infested but very good mako bait. The orange fish looks like a gurnard perch. A close relative to the red rock cod. They are apparently good to eat but as they look ugly and have spines i return them to the water. They have a nasty sting. Really nice gemfish there and good to see some blue eye being caught. Tight lines Dinnerbell
