Kings At The Peak

Hi all,

After using the advise from fellow raiders, we had a bucket of yakkas ready for the peak. The yakkas were caught at Moll Point.

Hit the peak around 11am in a stiff easterly with a bit of chop on the water. Livies go down and we start jigging, and jigging and jigging until our arms are sore. No luck on the jig front, even though we see activity on the sounder. One on our mates lands a keeper kingie on the first drop of the yakka, but thats it for the next hour. We keep drifting over the peak and persist jigging whilst having the livies out, still nothing on the jig but we finally get some action on the livies and a couple of rats come on board. We give up jigging and start using slabs of fresh slimies and some salted slimies. The action picks up and the slimey baits are working. All up landed 8 kingies, but only 2 legal. Also a decent Morwong. Most caught on slimey baits, a couple on live yakkas and zip on the jig.

Also saw others landing rat kingies and bonito.

By around 2pm the wind died down and the conditions are fantastic.

Off the water by 5pm. All in all a good days fishing.

Sorry no pics. Next time.

Will prob try long reef next time, after reading the reports from today

Well done Jeff....would have been an awesome afternoon out there today. Doesn't matter that only 2 out of 8 kingies were legal bud, it's the thrill of catching the buggers. Excellent day out mate.....Regards Glen
