Ramsgate Flatties

With the boat blocked in by a skip bin and the kayak out

of action I decided to hit the rock walls at Ramsgate

and flick some lures around.

First hit was on a 3" prong and after a short fight a 41cm flattie

is landed.

I persisted with the prong but didn't get any more hits so I changed

to a vibe. A few casts later I get a good hit and land a 47cm flattie.

Dropped another keeper flattie on the vibe and released two smaller ones.

Things slowed down with the vibe so I changed to a 4" Berkley minnow

and hooked a 44cm flattie.

The wind picked and with lunch sorted I decided to call it a day.

Nice catch of lizards, hopefuly the bay will fire up soon.

can any one reccomend me some vibes to try?

brand names and colours?

thanks

Hey mate ive been have good success with vibes over the last month or so on the lizards, personal preference would have to be the tt blades at this stage but im sure some of the cheaper models will work just fine...

Just make sure hooks and split rings are good quality!!!!!! There is alot of rubbish out there...

Silver and Gold colours seem to work the best, but even jet black and bright red have been fishing well in deep water...

I have been using the 40mm models

Stewy aka Swordfisherman seems to have blade fishing cracked, you should drop him a pm....

Lastly mate go very easy on your fish, those hooks are very tiny and dont have alot of holding power.

Hope the info helps,

I was using a Strike Pro Cyber Vibe like in Donna's post but I had

a gold and silver coloured one.

They are great to use especially when the wind is up as they cast and

hold the bottom really well.

I varied the retrieve from two to three short hops then a pause to a single

longer hop then a pause.

The TT and Ecogear blades a good too.

I tend to use natural colours in clear water and bright colours in dirty water

but it doesn't matter too much with flathead as long as the lure action is good.
