Raii
I was tossing up between Shimano Catana 2-4kg and the Starlo stix 2-5kg, both 7'2 I mainly fish around the Hacking, landbased, so im targetting the usual, bream, whiting, flatties and occasionally squidding. Which rod would you all recommend? Thanks.
Ray R
G'day buddy, if you add what reel you will be using I'm sure some of the plastic gurus will steer you in the right direction..
The Iceman
Maybe try the starlo stix flats spin which is a little longer for more distance when landbased
alasdair
I have the Catana, can't complain about it for the price. Have it matched to a 2500 Slade. Cheap and cheerful set up. alasdair
Flattiehunter991
My little brother broke my Daiwa Procaster 702MLFS in the butt section, when trying to release a snag . Ended up getting a Catana to replace it - not as good as a full graphite rod, but does the job
arpie
Hi Raii I have a Starlo Stix Tournament Pro Lite - and it is terrific for tossing light sps & lures around. Very sensitive in the tip but got the grunt to pull the bigger fish out when needed. It would be perfect to match with any 1000 reel (I have a shimano seido.) For the few extra dollars, the Tournament Pro is worth it! Cheerio Roberta

disturb3d
i agree great rod Yeah, Not to be bias. I have the Trion with a Shimano Symetre (Great reel for the price paid $160) paired with 10lb braid, and must admit its a great combo. I'd opt for a better reel though, maybe an Pfluger Supreme. monch
Anyone know shops that stock Pflueger trions? I've been looking around in southern sydney and can't find one. It would be nice if someone could PM me details
IVZ350
just upgraded my plastics reel mate to a shimano stradic c14 2500, cause my okuma flame f20's drag went, using 10lb penn braid on it its awesome for casting such a smooth reel, and holds more line when ya need it just incase a jewie hits ya, plus its actually lighter than the okuma.
