Best Nipper Pump Make

I'm sure most Raiders have got a nipper pump at home.

I've got three which have all packed it in, even bastardising

them to make one good one.

It's time to buy a new one and I would like everyone's opinion

on which pump is the best.

There are quite a few on the market with brands like:

Berkley

Wilson

Alvey

Force ten (crap)

and more that I can't remember.

I know there's one that has a rubber grommet where the bushing

is on the top, but can't find the brand.

Anyone have a favourite??

Cheers,

Pete.

Hi there Peter I'm not sure whether you know this or not but you can buy a complete plunger fitting for a nipper pump at most good tackle shops for about $8.00 -$10.00 each... Undo the wingnut and take the fitting off and see if they can match the best two of the three..Otherwise the extra long Wilson nipper pumps that are available at a large boating chain but not exclusive to I wouldn't think is very hard to beat even as a second pump when there is a definate need to pump into a group of holes several times in order to find the depth that the nippers have gone down to on a hot sunny day for example..

Cheers mate

We bought an alvey for cousin for his 21st birthday. Funny present you may say but he thought it was great. We had it engraved as well.

That was over Thirty years ago now the engraving has worn away with age, plenty of washer have been replaced but he still has only ever owns one yabbied pump.

Guess what brand mine is?

I've got a Force 10 :(

Couldnt afford an Alvey

So far, its worked OK so not complaining...

Wait for the welded top to break away

from the barrel like mine has..or the second one

where the handle failed! :ranting2:

Not to mention the crappy washers they use.

Ya can't beat Alvey, Pete - I am pretty sure that Cam still has our Dad's brass one & he had used it for many years before Cam inherited it in 1968! :1yikes:

Good tip for the replacement 'washer' too, Adjustedpete!!

Enjoy using your Alvey, Pete
