Frigates And Bonnies Doing My Head In

Hey raiders,

I've tried all sorts of lures for bonito and frigates and havent had many take them recently. I'm just wondering if anyone had had success with some lures on them.

Metals like sea rocks in small sizes, snipers, raiders in 25grams, small minnows.....bonnies hit them all the time.

Ive caught a fair few bonies on rapala magnums, they seem to work nicely.

I've caught a lot of bonitos on squid head skirt but I only use white, other colour seems not to work where I fish. And also I cut the skirt to shorten it to about two and a half inch. Being landbased I rig my lure with two meter trace behind a float acting as a teaser and wind the reel as fast as I can. It works a treat. On a boat, maybe you don't need a "teaser" because it will be difficult to cast that sort of rig with a seven foot rod.

Ive been catchin a heaps on the black magic skirts and gillies slugs 5 to 15grams in white and blue colour.

Troll 2 to 4 inch pink skirts you cant go wrong.

just cast as far as you can (or where you see them schooling), wait a bit for it to sink, then rip it back as fast as you can.

Those frigates are really picky aren't they.... Just looking at Gymea bay.. I've been targeting them for weeks and haven't had a proper hit... I've had many looks at my lures but no go... Even tried very small poddy mullet and no go... Frustrating.
