arpie
Hi OTGA If fishing the Parra River & surroundings, will you be fishing from a boat or shore? If in a boat, you can get away with 'lighter' main line, say, up to 10lb for the main line (braid is good) and 4-6lb leader. From a boat, you can usually prevent the fish from taking you into snags. They are unusually strong fish & may still get the better of you - I lost a nice one yesterday from the yak (when I thought I had him) as he rolled in the weed, removing the hook nicely! If fishing from shore, I'd go for braid & a minimum of 20lb. It sounds like 'overkill' but then you are set up for all types of blackie fishing. Braid floats, so there is no need to grease the line. You can then downsize your leader to about 6lb for rivers, 6-10lb for off breakwalls or rock fishing. Check this out for most information you should need re blackie fishing. http://www.fishraider.com.au/Invision/index.php?showtopic=23679 Good luck!
