Another Lowrance Structurescan Question

Hi all,

Turned my sounder on today in the garage and noticed that the structure scan transducer produces some sort of ticking sound roughly 1-1.5 times per second... and looks like the stricture scan image on the sounder is getting scrolled in sync. Moreover once in about 3 second the ticking rate increases for a very short while - so does the scrolling speed. Did not notice that on the water but perhaps I was not paying attention. Is that normal?
