Ray R
G'day Raiders, out today with Hutcho in search of some flatties and boy were they timid, I think they are still a bit sleepy. Anyway we tried around Patonga for no result so we jetted over to Hungry Beach, was a tad warmer over there as well so the fishing was quite pleasent. Here we found some flatties , only small fellas but a good sign, Hutcho was trying out his new Daiwa Heartland outfit and he was wrapped in the way it performed. A hour passed and things were warming up so we moved around the rocky foreshore near Hungry Beach and then decided to give Patonga another bash, now on the way there we saw a circle of boats with all on board reeling in fish, they had big schools of choppers and salmon busting up all around them so we joined in too, Hutch scored a couple of nice salmon which gave his new outfit a workover and played with a few small tailor, this kept us busy for half an hour or so. That over we continued to Patonga, still quiet there so we took off back into the Ettalong Wagstaffe area and drifted around the shallows and moored boats, we scored a couple more small flatties there and so after thousands of casts with different plastics and hard bods we called it a day. So we did end up with some fish (all released) today, nice to be out there and thinking that in 2 or 3 weeks time the bigger girls will be out to play, also my prize for July c.o.t.m from Gary (Brickman) Seriously Stainless was a 4 up set of bow rail rod holders, took a pic as well, great work Gary lovely job.. james7
Despite it being a bit "quiet" Ray, it certainly looks like it was a top day to be on the water. It's a good flattie you're holding and Hutcho's salmon is a ripper. Brilliant photos as usual and that "Brickman rod holder" looks great too. I always enjoy seeing your reports. Keep 'em coming Ray! Day's Fishin
The water looks very green and cold in the Flathead pic's Ray. The salmon would have been a treat on light gear. Congrat's on winning the c.o.t.m. Regards Jeff
