Are Port Jackson Sharks Protected?

Hey mate, no they are not protected, yes you would get a fair bit of meat off them but I have never heard of anyone that has kept them and too be honest I wouldnt bother... You would definately get a few angry looks back at the ramp but in saying that there is nothing to stop you giving it a go

I had a mate on my boat keep one a few years back, he reckoned it

tasted like absolute cr#p, worst fish he has ever tried, Hes released

every single one he has caught since.

For me they just dont look like they are gona taste any good so I let em go.

Its up to you what you do when you are within the law.

Port Jacksons are nice to eat i only keep 1 if i aint caught nothin for dinner towards the end of the day because are a major pain to clean and skin. You can skin them and boil them in chunks or fry skinless fillets in batter.

I let 99% of the Port Jacksons i catch go free
