rjc123
Hey raiders, I was doing a little research as i'm headed up to noosa for a week in Summer. I plan to fish as much as possible and came across something interesting. This year there have been a few barra caught on the Noosa River. Mainly the middle reaches but they arent meant to be coming down that far south. Check this one out! Caught this month on a 60mm popper! A few other pics attached of Noosa Barra and even Threadfin Salmon! http://www.fishingnoosa.com.au/sept0211.080.jpg http://www.fishingnoosa.com.au/dec0110.040.jpg http://www.fishingnoosa.com.au/jan0511.060.jpg Can't wait to see what the warm currents bring our way this summer! Hey Mack Attack, Very occasional captures of barra have been taken in the Noosa for years. I remember a mate catching one in the late 70s. Threadfin however are certainly possible...Further south in the Brisbane River is the go if you want an animal.
Onajewagain
There were reports of some taken in the Sydney. They believe they were introduced rather than migrated. I think someone posted the article on here somewhere? I went to a barra farm on the Sunshine coast which was some good fun. Your definitely not guaranteed to catch fish that's for sure, bloody hard actually! Only got 2 but both were thumpers. Awesome fun on light gear. deepdiver
If by Barra "taken in Sydney" you mean scooped up in a net within an inch of their life...then yes they have been "taken" in Sydney after they were released by idiots.
Onajewagain
Yeah the was a scoop up in a fishing comp, but it was after reports they were being caught already. Still introduced by some dim wit.
anthony f
I don,t know if any of you have read anything about the history of the brisbaine river but there was talk of the great silver fish in there when it had a visibility of 30 -50m not 2 inches.
