  1. I basically got the same answer, however he did emphasis the "don't transfer fish between waterways" part. That is dead or alive. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Awesome place, spent many a summer there as a kid, hoping to head down this Xmas. We used to fish a place that we all called the "secret spot" don't know why we thought it was secret, had a parking area and picnic tables! Basically it was right down stream of the inlet near a few abandoned oyster leases, was a great fishing spot. The inlet as a whole is a good fishing area. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. I have seen that, but it's also specific to freshwater fishing. I'm interested in the dpi response, as it's sketchy and contradictive throughout the site. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. I hear that! I was recently in tweed, try making a dinner reservation! Game of 20 questions! The old iPhone doesn't keep up with the time updates either, had to manually set it. Pain in the rear Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. I think the section that says don't transfer fish between waterways and dispose of away from waterways is sketchy at best. Doesn't say dead or alive. Again but, I read it as a guide, not a law. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Reading the above it looks like recommendation rather than law, so it may be ok? Qld are tough on it so keep it in mind if you travel north! 200k is an expensive fishing trip Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Yes but then there's this; Report a pest species! For recreational fishers: Don’t transfer fish between waterways – and don’t use live fish as bait in freshwater (it’s illegal!) Obtain a permit to stock fish – and buy fingerlings from a registered hatchery to minimise the chances of contamination with undesirable species. Don’t return pest fish to the water – if you catch a pest fish, kill it humanely and dispose of it appropriately away from the water. Prevent unwanted hitchhikers – check, clean and dry boats, equipment and fishing gear between waterways. I'm kinda confused. I know it's definitely illigal in QLD and sa, but can't find specifics for NSW. Can't understand how different states may take different approaches to pests like that. Qld laws; This fish is declared noxious in Queensland. It is unlawful to possess noxious fish alive or dead or to use them as bait. It is illegal to place or release noxious fish alive or dead into Queensland waterways. Penalties of up to $200,000 apply. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Pretty sure it's illegal, might want to confirm it but I think it is. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Wow, I just checked it out. That thing was an absolute wreck when you started! That's a quality restoration! Well done Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. That's gold! I can just imagine the looks you got walking into the aquarium with a fishing rod! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Funny the learning never stops, not once have I ever locked the drag to rinse, or ever heard of it for that matter. Have to remember to do that next time out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. I have 2 sonic pros, one with the cazna 2500 and a heavier Rod with the cazna 4000. I can't fault them, both do exactly what I got them for and come pretty cheap. The only thing I would suggest with sp fishing is do it light, the lighter the better. Lite line, jig heads and leader will give you more feel. With jig heads, start lite and work your way up if you're not getting to the bottom. Too many fish passed up with people fishing too heavy. The berkley drop shot is another good rod and will give similar results. Shimano reels are the best bang for buck in my opinion, the sienna and cazna being my 2 budget picks. 13. Up here, you pay one fee of $90 for the indicator to be on your driver license, after that it's included in your license fee, no extra cost. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Not convinced of that. It was combined in QLD a few years back, both on different demerit systems. No points on a boat license up here, really at the discretion of the court. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. The reason being, you throw a bait out, you are only covering the one area, with an imitation, you throw it all around the fishing area without harm to the livie. It's all situational and target species. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Little bit of the where's when's and what's. For flathead, bream etc, plastics Outfish bait by a long shot. For whiting, bait only for me. Deep sea, always bait for me. Jewfish, bait for me but getting more common on plastics. Fresh water, lures only for me. Too many variables in the equation to say ones better than the other. What I love about plastics is the by catch and pickers are basically eliminated, giving you a clearer indication of what's in the area, saves a lot of time and wasted bait. 17. No doubt now, tis what it is. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. I used to bring them in from China. They are a good craft, suited to estuary (not offshore) and as always, wear a pfd. I'll pm you the seller with the same as we used to bring in. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. I'm not 100% but I'm thinking small mouth scad too, they have been reported as far down as botany but very rare. Take it to a fisheries office to confirm, I'm sure they would appreciate the information too. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Wow, great catch on a plastic, love it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. I'd actually forgotten about the poll for COTM. That's some interesting stats, I can't think of anything worse than fish pie! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. The like button could come in handy for COTM and other comps, would attract more voters and be more appealing to sponsors with a definitive audience number. Just a thought. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. X2 for that! Anywhere really between batemans bay and merimbula is tops for fishing and some great places to stay. Narooma being my personal favorite If going north, Forster is the go. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. I don't think it's fair to compare what happens here to what happens on facebook. Example, I posted last week on removing a seat from my tinnie, I received heaps of opinions and even just 10 minutes ago another idea. Now, had I put it out on facebook, I would have got 3 likes, 4 blokes I haven't seen for 2 years asking "when we going fishing" and mum asking why I'm spending money on the boat and not putting in a pool for the kids. Leave Facebook where it is, and never ever ever let my wife or mum know I hang out here......! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. I'd love to see them Jocler, the more inspiration the better! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
