hey raiders!,

so managed to get out a few times over the holidays and tried out my new kayak that the gf bought me  (happy days) first trip took me up to foresters beach, where using whole and filleted pilies at sunrise and beyond i managed a few bream and a catshark of some sort (species ID would be welcome)post-19135-039700600 1325659281_thumb.jpg post-19135-014300500 1325659221_thumb.jpg post-19135-087692800 1325659325_thumb.jpg

my next adventures took me south to meroo, where i got to fish the beach during an amazing last sunrise for 2011, only to land one bream. top points for aesthetics though.

and next to the beach was termeil lake where i got to try out my christmas present!! wohoooo! i kayaked around the lake for ages then decided to wet my first line from it. we found a nice spot where some tree stumps were submerged and using a free lined peeled prawn i landed this beauty, a 40cm bream that was golden from the lakes water, and a PB! was so happy.

went on to catch a few more smaller bream, post-19135-044354000 1325659254_thumb.jpg post-19135-093089000 1325659300_thumb.jpg

I've not seen a bream that colour before. Congrats on both the PB and a kayak-buying girlfriend!

I just got my kayak about 3 months ago and love it! In the last three months I have more than tripled my catch from all last year!

Cheers,

Rich.

Nice work mate.

Thats a killer bream well done!

I want to see the kayak dude. How about a photo?

Im going to go chase some squid soon so that we know where to get it for the kings.

Blackies still around here by the way.

Great report and great photo's. I especially like the shirt off posing ones :074:

Dude great post! The kayak looks like an inflatable. Is it light? How would it go if you were to hook it?

hey man thanks, yeah it is inflatable, its a rib like material but it would still be a bit of downer, in more ways than one, if a hook were to sink into it. gotta come up with some ingenious ways of keeping things on the boat without popping it! :) and yes its really light and folds down to around the size of micro wave which means i can load it onto me bike and im away! :)

Good on ya, Gilbey!! Way to go - tho I am not sure I'd take it too close to any oyster leases!!

You'll be able to access areas that you just haven't been able to access before - your GF should get one now too, so you can both get out & about! Picnic on an island that you then walk the flats, fishing! You'll have SO MUCH FUN you'll wonder why you didn't get one ages ago!
