Ben millauro
Hi everyone, good friday we decided to have a bash outside for some kingies and snapper. After doing no good in the port stephnes trailerboat comp we were hoping to land some decent kingies off Sydney. We got some livies and headed out, had a go at the mugs but all that seemed to be there were some bonito down deep. We then tried our favourite spot, spot X and within 15 minutes my 8kg outfit started buzzing.. After a 20 minute fight i managed to land a 7-8 kilogram king measuring 90cm. Not long after we put out our two 30kg outfits and managed to land a 12 and 14kg king within 15 minutes. The 12 measuring 110cm and the 14 measuring 115cm. My cousing also landed a 14kg kingfish on his cruize craft. After all the commotion we had one livey left and whacked her out hoping for the rod to buckle on one more sydney king. It did, but absolutely monstered us and went straight for the reef. We lost it on a fully locked up drag. All in all a good day. My cousin dropped another 20kg + yesturday so we are deffinately going to have another bash this weekend! My boats names IRE-ANA so if youse see me out there dont be afraid to say hi! bombora
Hiya youngone, good stuff! We got eight kings all round the metre at a spot which I think is nearby to your Spot X a few weeks ago. Tagged five of em, and I wonder if one of your kings is one we tagged? Can't imagine too many people have been tagging metre kings in that part of the world recently. Was fishing with Al McGlashan. Have you checked your bilge, scuppers etc for the tag??? Would love if you found that little yellow spaghetti tag! Do you remember if the tag had any growth on it or did it look fresh? Cheers and congrats on a great session. One of our tagged kings, pic taken by Al: Edited April 11, 2012 by bombora
Ben millauro
Hey mate! Yeah it was a fresh tag, il l have a look and try and find it for you. Yeah i have a feeling the spots were pretty close because al mcglashian knows my cousin in the cruise craft and he told us he gave al some marks where we landing some kingies And also we were using live yackas, squid and bonito strips. J Hooked
Awesome catch mate! Got to try my luck on the Kings. Tried a couple of times in the bay but no luck. Now that the weather has calmed down I’ll try past the heads.
