kingfishaholic
How you all doing fellow fishriaders?! There haven't been many reports of late so I thoug I'd throw my 2cents worth in... Went out this morning for a long anticipated fish! Been so busy of late with assignments etc that haven't managed a fish in quite a while...however this trip was quite uneventful as you will come to learn. We set off at the lazy mans hour of about 8.30 thinking I'll fish the low tide. Was quite windy when we go out there do decided to head towards Brighton. (we went of foreshore drive and yes if anyone was wondering 3 lanes of the ramp are closed however the right hand most lane is still functional) We arrive at the spot (There's no spot...we just anchored To a random area in front of the Novotel-were is the productive " spot"/area in this area?) and set out a few baits...was using Pillies and yabbies. Threw 5 lines out and sat back and waited. 1 hour of constantly reelin in and checking untouched baits followed by another of absolutely nothing! At about 11.20 a rod armed with 30 pound braid buckled over! With a massive 2 second run, I jump up and tug at it with hulk like strength in joy for what I thought was to be a magnificent fish! After about 10 seconds I realized my folly when It Became more of a dead weight than an anchor lol. After a short fight I brought up was the biggected portjackson shark I've ever seen in my life. The joy came back again as even though this was not the edible prize fish I desired it was a great Substitute...measuring a awesome 1.2 m + took a few photos with the beauty and then threw her back...set lines out again and what do you know I caught it again 20 mins later. After that we called it a day and headed back home (my father doesn't really enjoy fishing, so his always eager to head back home lol any idea on how to make him enjoy it?) So yes no table fish or any fish really...prob one of the worst trips in the bay though still had a good time is anyone else finding h bay this barren? At the ramp others were also fish less...what's blighting at the moment in the bay? Where's the trevs and salmon!? Ah well there's always next time (like in an hours time when I shall try the hacking from a wharf lol) Yours truly Kingfishaholic Uploading pic tonight Edited September 12, 2012 by kingfishaholic
Salmon_Hunter
Sharks in the Bay generally means water too cold, which generally means not too much happening on the baitfish front. This usually amounts to not too many fish. Things a bit quiet until it warms up. Not long now, hang in there.

Jestor
Hi All, Been fishing the bay all through winter because of the beautiful sunny weekends that we have been having and because I live on the bay and its just to easy to get out there. Ive got to say that it is been very tough the last month with most outings resulting in a biteless day out on the water. Its a little disappointing as this is my first year of fishing and fishing with a boat as well. When I started flicking for flatties on the beach at Ramsgate early this year I was catching like around five fish every hour which was great fun So....I thought I would buy a boat in winter so I could catch more fish when the flattied slow down! Winter wasnt too bad and I caught lots of tailor and trevally but this last month is just dead. Hopefully its a transitional period and things start to pick up soon as I'm aching to here my line zing zing again! Good luck All and let us know if you catch anything.. If you see me out in the bay say hi, Im there most weekends.. Im in 475 older Stacer with newer 60 hp etec and and a rocket launcher. Went out to the Hacking last week only to not get a bite all day outside and in except for this nice flatty towards the end of the session. Caught it on the sand flats with a 1/2 Oz Vibe.. Made the day worth while. Cheers Jesse
jenx
best way to keep the old man occupied is to take an esky full of grog... works for me when i'm not catching anything !
SNAP-ER
Have fished botany twice the last month, with no results.Worse its ever been for me,getting bait was no problem.Molineux point was full of yakkas and had seals there onboth outings and at the oil wharf, might be another reason as to why they are there.
