Nepean Bass

Have been going pretty hard at the bass in the nepean lately with 3 out of the past 5 days on the water so i thought it was about time for a quick report.

First session out was on saturday, this was by far the best session landing 5 bass with 3 over 30cm with all the big ones on surface..... nothing beats watching implosion feeders hit the surface!

first fish was an awesome 35cm, who punched way above his weight almost bricking me on a mid water logjam

next one came a while after and was a good 33cm

next fish was a massive fish but with nasty snag underneath and a short hit and run even on almost locked drag I was bricked relieving me of my sammy :ranting2:

So I tied on a jaz zappa and not even 10 minutes later I land a cracker 37cm fish

I got two more fish for the day both in their 20's on a shallow diver then we called it quits.

Monday arvo after work was the next session, this time there were no big fish but I lost count of how many fish and hits we got. Lots of rats with the biggest of the day a 29cm, with all of my fish caught on a tiny wake bait

Today (wednesday) and was a nice outing I finished with 6 fish my mate with 5. With 2 over 30.

This time we fished surface until around 1030 until the bite slowed, no big fish landed on surface this time but my mate lost an absolute cracker! We then changed to some divers and started getting fish again by casting into the shade tight into the bank. This is when my fish started to get bigger with the first fish around 27ish-cm coming after we went to grab my lure from a tree (i was koala fishing) lobbing a cast in close to the bank, gaving the lure a twitch and watching it come out from an undercut bank to smash my jackall taking me around a few sticks but eventually coming out

Same twitch pause technique got my last two fish a Just on 30cm

and a 32cm

Hope you got some fishing in before the season ended StephenW

Dean01, there's a few other reports from this season on here if you havent seen them already :biggrinthumb:

Jew Stalker; curl up in a ball and cry my self to sleep haha! Nah I will be hitting the dams in the hunter, tackling the salt, Trip to europe for a month (will slip in some fishing time there) and doing anything to distract me from the fact its not the time of year for surface lures

Europe eh? Nice work. It is a good chance to get a few fish that most of us don't get to see. Enjoy yourself over there. I would take a few of your surface lures, it will be about the right time of year over there. Also take some S/P's, they haven't really caught on up there as I have heard so you may be able to get a few which haven't seen them before and are keen to take them. Good luck bud!
