Screw Lock for Soft Plastics!

Hi guys

I found this method for making weed guards for jig hooks using a screw lock into the soft plastic.

You just need a thin bit of tubing (strong metal tubing so it doesn't get squashed when in the vice) - hold it in a vice WELL. stick a bit of Stainless Steel wire (200lb) down the tube, then using some round nose pliers, make the loop at the top then hold that loop with regular pliers ....... wind more wire down around the outside of the thing tube as tightly as you can. The loops created will be wider than the tube used, so it is important to use as thin a tube as you can find!!

You can 'straighten up' the top loop if you like it looking a bit more tidy :D

Cut of the wire when you've made as many loops as you need.

screw them onto the hook you want to use! Make long ones for bigger SPs, smaller ones for little SPs

Screw your soft plastic onto it, turn it around & put the hook in for weed free presentation. Easy Peasy!

You can even add weights to the underneath section if you like - either slip some on before you put the SP on ( or use a metal saw to cut thru the sinker to make the channel to squeeze on.) That way you can make different sized sinkers to get the weight you want.

See the Weed Guard for Jig Heads here too, for weedless presentation, where hooks are exposed
