dhype
Weekend... fishing! Took out fishraider newbie Joel to show him how I do things on the bay today and lets just say we SMASHED it ! (well I did anyway...... kidding...) Joel was from another forum and specialises in bream, bream and bream.... now he has learnt how to catch squid, flatties, frigates, long toms, squid, squid, flatties, squid, flatties, flatties, and squid. DHYPE Style... Slow start on the squid and only managed 2 medium squid at spot #1.... after 1 hour we moved to spot 2 and hit pay dirt! Over the next hour we managed some of the biggest squid I have ever landed in the bay... joel also gets a few including one almost as big as mine ( I told him mine was larger! hahahah)... Maccas size squids! Squid Master DRed the squid for jack inside the Bay so punched it out to the heads in search for kings... Joel found his breakfast coming up instead ... hahahah poor bastard!! While at the heads in washing machine like conditions we did come across a massive school of feeding frigate mackerals... we both landed a few speedster on lighty weighted plastic which was a loads of fun.. snapper bait anyone? zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz..... Back in claimer waters took him to my flathead spot to flick some plastics and I was right into my from the first cast. Joel dicked around with his 4000 lures but finally joined me with a shrimp pattern lure and flatties started fly overboard more or less non stop! We kept a few for the plate and I lost a big girl before the fish reached the net ( thanks Joel!!) An airbourn Long Tom that was after some prawn cocktails.. "I luv bubba gump shrimps" Joel part of the days catch... he looks semi-pleased Macca's new menu Wow... my wife is going to be cleaning for a while tonight !! hahahaaha Thanks for some great company today Joel... see .. there is more to life than just bream and skeeters!! There is no fish in the Bay so dont bother! ....Till next week... (Joel has promissed me he has forgot ALL the spots I took him today so don't bother asking/PM-ing him !!!! Hahahaha) Trung | DHYPE | BBC Edited February 17, 2013 by dhype

djbazzab
Great catch. That's a lot of calamari. How do those silicon nets go? Recently lost my environet, thinking about one of these (environet to difficult to move in the water). They ok for bigger fish? Cheers, Baz. A genuine LOL moment. ?? BTW: Do the Dhype charters extend to Middle Harbour? Not having much luck up here with the squid, and hence much of the squid loving monsters. WOW thanks so much for sharing and your insight! It looks like you are already an expert at catching/locating squid in the Bay so there is no point in adding anymore!! Just seems odd to me that for someone who can catch squid "all year round" needs to keep pushing other Raiders to divulge more information about their squid spots as in your previous posts...mmmmm..... I also cannot recall you ever "sharing" a squid/fishing posts with us here... we would all love to see them. Anyway, dont forget about end of yarra bay, bare island and the rocks near the guy nudest beach..... all top squid spots and was easily found by using the "search" function within the forums. If people want more info they generally send a PM where I reply to everyone... sorry I do not like posting specifics in the open forums so 10 boats can rock up over the weekend in a 40sqm area !!! Enjoy! Great catch. That's a lot of calamari. How do those silicon nets go? Recently lost my environet, thinking about one of these (environet to difficult to move in the water). They ok for bigger fish? Cheers, Baz. The silcon net are sh1thouse... way to heavy and plenty of drag also through the water just like the environets. The net itself is too shallow and big fish will not fit in.... I dropped a 85cm+ flatty last week because of this crap net. Im going back to the old school knotted nets.
