Great Day on the Hacking and Surrounds

Hit the squid grounds and first light this morning and found the squid very easy to come buy, pulling one in every 10 minutes or so. Bait tank full we head outside and downrig along the coast. Huge schools of yakkas busting the surface but no interest in the live squid. My mate caught a rat on a soft plastic but that was it. Headed back into the river to catch some more squid. Catch about ten more including some absolute whoppers. At one stage i though a salmon had picked my jig up! Decide to have a flick for some flatties along the edge of the sand flats to no avail. Anchored up in some deep water and sent some squid strips down while we cleaned the rest of em. All the squid guts in the water must have attracted some fish as my rod with 10 pound braid buckles over. After an awesome fight i land the 66cm kingy. My mate soon hooks onto another rat that gave a very good account for its self. All in all great day on the water!

Top stuff mate,

I have been getting onto a few good squid lately too.

Hopefully the weather holds up and I can get out this weekend.

Finally got the new Minnkota fitted and it works a treat.

It's great to be able to pull up and set the anchor feature and not have to worry about drifting away from the spot.

See you out on the water

Cheers
