Accessing Trim switch on OMC throttle control

Hi all,

Can anyone help me out with some "how to" guidance?

I need to get the throttle lever off the control box & to 'split' the handle, in order to get to the trim switch.

I have removed the box, & loosened the Hex head screw in the back (red arrow). I read elswhere that a couple of sharp taps with the hammer, & the lever would come off.

I have tried this & it does not seem to want to move. this leads me to think that I need to undo something else.

does anyone know if I need to open the box? (I am adverse to doing this if I dont have to!)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.post-3077-0-30725400-1367723444_thumb.jpgpost-3077-0-74339300-1367723459_thumb.jpg

this the way i do it ,control box off .hex screw loose [out about 3 or 4 turns leave the apex bit in the hex screw and hit it with a sharp wackor two .if you only have an allen key ,then with the hex screw loose use adrift or blunt punch and a sharp wack willdo it .cheers ray.
