quochuy
I was in Narrabeen fishing by the lagoon at night, then I stepped hardly on the sand to remove sand from my feet and that's where the ground lit up. It's kind of a phosphorescent/electricity like effects that ran from the ground to the surface of the water. Really weird. Don't know if you've experienced that before? -- http://www.facebook.com/gonefishinginoz Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
Paikea
Hi Quochuy I have encountered phosphorescence on numerous occasions in the past. I believe that it is some form of minute marine life. It looks spectacular when fishing and a fish takes off leaving a trail of colour behind it. The line from the point where it enters the water just lights up. Love your pictures, very classy. Cheers Paikea
Linc
Yes I've seen this while on holiday in the Philippines before, the whole beach was lined with it, at first I thought it was some sort of toxic waste!
RichieR
Is this the same as the Red Tide that was in Sydney around this time last year ?It makes the waves crash electric blue. Could explain why the fish on the Northern Beaches are not around - Last year I heard it was keeping the fish away ..
quochuy
Thanks for the interesting answers. It's actually quite nice to look at, a bit freaky when you don't know what's going on. Would be interested to know if that really affects the fish as RichieR mentioned -- http://www.facebook.com/gonefishinginoz Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
quochuy
Paikea, I used to do a lot of photography before, so even with an iPhone I try to get something decent when time and conditions allow -- http://www.facebook.com/gonefishinginoz Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
Yowie
Can be caused by bacteria, plankton and other organisms. Google it to find out more about it. Some nights in Gunnamatta Bay in Port Hacking, the phosphorescence is very bright, but has disappeared by Burraneer Bay.

quochuy
Awesome! The last video is exactly what I saw :-D I too am longing for the Northern Beaches to fire. In the mean time I will be practicing my beach worming technique, need to try harder without pliers. -- http://www.facebook.com/gonefishinginoz Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
