Fab1
Hi guys, I was just given a little gear from my Father inlaw which belonged to a friend of his which has since passed. Alot of it was rusted badly but scored some good hooks/leads and some flies. He had traces made up on those sticks with heavy mono and large hooks. The news paper is dated 17 dec 1980. There is a mitchel 307 reel there which seems like its all there and was wondering if it was ok back in the day and around what vintage. Looks like a surf reel to me. Cheers. Witha
Can't say much bout the reel but it's good to see it being passed on, if he was a keen fisherman (seems as though he was) he would have wanted it used! Paikea
I had a bigger brother to your Mitchell ( a 499) that I think I bought in the sixties. They were good reels for their time but you may like to improve the drag a bit by fitting new drag washers. from memory they only had two.
