locodave
Hi Guys, What would be a good safe point to jack up your trailer to change the spare? Is the axle a no go zone? Thanks!
Geoff
I jack mine up under the spring , on the fish plate where the U bolts are fitted
Guest hawkesbass
On the chassis or the spring plates mentioned above. Avoid the axle as it could bend with the weight of the boat and trailer.
Paikea
Make sure that you place some added support under the chassis in case the jack slips. When changing wheels I always place the spare under a spot that will keep the hub from hitting the ground if the Jack slips. Then when I remove the flat wheel I place that under the chassis before I take the spare out and put it on the trailer/car. Never ever trust bricks to hold a car or trailer up, they can crush and come down in a big hurry. And never put any part of you body under the trailer or car unless it is supported by proper steel jack stands. People have lost limbs (and worse) through placing their legs either side of the wheel hub when trying to jiggle the spare in place. Legless is not a good look! locodave
Thanks mate. All done. Yes I placed jacks on all sides and made sure no limbs were in the way!

antonywardle
Slightly related, I've replaced the hubs on my trailer and now have a spare wheel. One thing I really enjoyed was packing the bearing. Very therapeutic, just getting a wad of grease in your palm then forcing it into the bearing, or am I just weird?
