thefisherman6784 Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 (edited) Hey raiders So today I fished a marina with a few mates near my local today that I have fished at least 6 times with no one telling us off and couldn't see any signs saying no fishing Then this guy comes up to me, and asks is I have a boat there (no I don't), so then he asks how I got on, I said thru the gate right there (it was next to us and wide open like always), so he started going off at me, telling me and threatening me that he would call the cops, etc etc, so I politely said sorry mate, I didn't see any signs saying anything and the gate was wide open, then he threatened me to take me to the security to show me the signs?!? I said sorry and left He was very impolite and shouting at me, seriously, what's a kid like me gonna do?!?! Anyway, he told me to never come back Anyone else had a similar experience or worse?? Cheers Gianni P.S. Stay tuned for the full report of the day! [emoji6] just a little hint: it was a very good session Edited May 30, 2015 by thefisherman6784
batfishing Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 My boats on a Marina......there's no need to be rude to someone like that, but we get all types of boat owners! On the other side though, be aware most marinas are fish protection habitats. No fishing Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
ambrose607 Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 (edited) Gianni you did the right thing. You apologized and walked away nothing else you could of done. At 13 years of age you showed maturity that some adults don't have. Plenty more spots out there. WELL DONE. You've been there six times and nothing happened. Me thinks it's time for a new security guard LOL Edited May 30, 2015 by ambrose607
GoingFishing Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 You did the right thing mate good on you It's probably a private marina but that still doesn't justify him being rude The problem is, not everyone is like you Gianni, some idiots leave behind rubbish, hooks, fish guts etc and that would annoy anyone paying top dollar to Moore their boat at a marina . Unfortunately the good fishos cop it as a result Not to worry, the fish are everywhere and I'm sure someone like you won't have any trouble finding them
thefisherman6784 Posted May 30, 2015 Author Posted May 30, 2015 Thanks guys for the replies One day I had the manager tell me and Seamus if we wanna fish there, to just clean up after ourselves He said we can fish there as long as we clean up if we use bait or cut line and stuff
macman Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 I enjoy all the posts from you young blokes catching great fish around the marinas, but I've been waiting for this post, it was really only a matter of time. As for fish protection habitats, I'm not sure that is right, but the owners usually have a lease and the lease allows them to keep it secure. Don't stop though for gods sake, you aren't going to be 13 for ever, make the most of getting away with it while you can. We need to see decent reports of actual fish Matt
Old Salty Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 Hi there Gianni, just an idea, it might help ig you go and see the manager that spoke to you before and gave you permission to fish there and explain what happened today and how you were spoken to rudely, and ask if it is still ok to fish there, tell them that you never make a mess and always leave the area the same way as it was when you arrived, you might find that your welcome and he says yes, if so, ask him to request that his staff are aware that you have permission, I think you handled yourself great and showed more respect to that clown that kicked you out than he deserved lol. good luck Regards Dan
thefisherman6784 Posted May 30, 2015 Author Posted May 30, 2015 Thanks for the response dan I will go talk to him or someone that works in the office And sorry for the suspense Matt the report will be up tomorrow because I went fishing Friday, Saturday, then going tomorrow so I'll post a big report tomorrow night
harold Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 I think most marinas get a little nervous when people they don't recognise are around expensive boats that are in their care. Also, as per a previous post, the mess some folk leave is dreadful. At church point, the mess and crowds of fisho's at night became such a problem they put on a security guard with a German shepherd to keep people out. Some dear soul had actually done a poo on the fuel wharf and left it there to be cleaned up. Not nice.
