Mossy050 Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 Hi Guys , Just a quick report decided to go for a quick fish at Nth Curl Curl beach between 5 - 8 ,Caught 5 tailor and lost another 3 bitten off at hook used servo pilchards as bait ,let all tailor go as don't rate as table fish Thanks Mossy
MadSnapper1980 Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 Good catch bro...but Tailors aren't bad eating...just gotta bleed em and put em on ice straight away.... I normally bake em in the oven...garlic, corriander, a bit of ginger, chillies and salt. Lightly drizzle with oil.... Can't believe you caught em on servo bait....I used em once.....fishermen next to me were catching except for me... Felt like going and throwing left over pilchard bait on the servo attendant for selling poor quality bait. From that day on...never again to servo bait...
erwin Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 Hi Mossy, think you might find those are actually salmon not tailor. Still not great eating though. Nice catch.
josamill Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 Nice to see the salmon around - i'm going to hit Palm Beach tonight!
Loco Mofo Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 Hehe was also going to say those are salmon, fat ones. Always good action. The cold water seems to be keeping the tailor away from the beaches at the mo.
Mossy050 Posted June 9, 2015 Author Posted June 9, 2015 Thanks guys for feedback and helping me out with what sort of fish they are ,they where lots of fun to catch ever way
OldMateJon Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 Hey mate, Nice haul on the Salmon mate! Was wondering if you went on the high tide down at curly? Cheers.
Mossy050 Posted June 11, 2015 Author Posted June 11, 2015 Hi OldMate Jon , It was actually on the rising tide Northern end of beach ,there was heaps there but i am just a average fishing men lol
snatcher Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 Much doing at Collaroy Beach. Going to be based at my daughters there from October for 3 month. She is only about 100 yds from the beach so I should manage a couple of hours fishing before breakfast every day. All tips on likely species/tactics/bait more than welcome Do enjoy lure fishing in the surf - what might I pick up on lures ? Cheers John
FunkyJT Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 John - salmon, tailor, flathead, bream and sand whiting. Find the gutters and keep ,ovine until you find the fish.
