joking fish Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 (edited) I have made a list of the different types of fish that I have caught while fishing land based in Pittwater over the last five years. Using Pilchard and prawn as bait we have landed more than 30 different fish species in two spots alone. Here is the list and some of the fish you may have never heard of. Please discuss and tell me your thoughts. 1Trevally 2bream 3Flathead 4Tailor 5Snapper 6Aussie Salmon 7Jew Fish 8King Fish 9Yellow Tail 10 Leather Jacket 11Flounder 12Bonito 13watsons Bonito 14Pike 15Grinner 16Samson Fish 17Spangled Emperor 18black rock cod 19port Jackson Shark 20Blind Shark 21Banjo Shark 22Shovel Nose Shark 23Sting Ray 24Numb Ray 25Red Rock Cod 26!Eel 27Trumpeter 28Tarwine 29Wrasse 30Seargent Baker 31Toad Fish Also attatched are two photos of the last two outings to the Northern Beaches. Scratchie Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Of all of them no whiting??? Except for trumpeter???? And what about squid???
Guest 4myson Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Fishing Report ?? Some of those fish I wouldn't be bragging about ...
Ryder Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 That's a great range of species on pillies and prawn baits. If you add bread, you could add a few more to the list. Mullet, blackfish and gars.
joking fish Posted September 3, 2015 Author Posted September 3, 2015 Of all of them no whiting??? Except for trumpeter???? And what about squid??? I may have caught a grass whitening at Newport years ago but if so it was very small. This is a list of fish excluding the countless crabs, octopus and squid my family and friends have caught from these locations.
joking fish Posted September 3, 2015 Author Posted September 3, 2015 (edited) Fishing Report ?? Some of those fish I wouldn't be bragging about ... It's true that some of those fish have no real value but the list is for real enthusiasts. Besides there have been plenty of trophy fish for the table. All the oddballs went back to the sea. joking fish Posted September 3, 2015 Author Posted September 3, 2015 No luderick????? I've seen old guys at both locations catching lots using weed but I've never really fished for them. I would like to catch some black fish one day.
Krispy ! Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 the thing that got my attention is why is the trevallys skin so wrinkled? did you leave it out in the sun? that's an impressive list, of all those I still haven't caught a blind shark or a black rock cod
joking fish Posted September 4, 2015 Author Posted September 4, 2015 the thing that got my attention is why is the trevallys skin so wrinkled? did you leave it out in the sun? that's an impressive list, of all those I still haven't caught a blind shark or a black rock cod The Trevally was a bit sunburnt. I forgot to bring a bucket that day. I have looked on google and upon closer inspection the Black Rock Cod was more likely to have been a Grass Rockfish. My apologies.
joking fish Posted September 4, 2015 Author Posted September 4, 2015 Holy shit, are those two spots seafood shops? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk You can't get Toad Fish in a Sea Food Shop. Maybe a Japanese Restaurant.... Still these are just some of the fish I can remember off the top of my head. There could be others I forgot to mention.
